International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1141 Business Agent Jim Griffy joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the challenges faced by union leaders in the Oklahoma Construction Industry Coalition to pursue pro-union legislation and policies in the So-Called “Right to Work” state of Oklahoma.

Local 1141 represents 1,200 electrical workers in western Oklahoma. 

The Oklahoma Construction Industry Coalition is a group of union leaders and contractors who work to support legislation that protects the health and safety of construction employees and citizens. 

Griffy also talked about how his membership was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act in rural Oklahoma, how wind and solar projects will affect work in his Local’s jurisdiction and Local 1141’s 100th anniversary.
