Merrilee Logue, Executive Director of the Blue Cross Blue Shield National Labor Office, and David Yoder, Senior Vice President of the Federal Employee Program (FEP) at Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast to discuss the open enrollment period for federal employees and how the FEP helps members simplify navigating their healthcare options.

Yoder has held several leadership positions in the FEP before becoming the Senior Vice President of the program. Prior to his time in public healthcare, Yoder earned the Navy Achievement Medal for his work on Pharmacy Automation Systems during his active duty career with the U.S. Navy.

The FEP is the Blue Cross Blue Shield program that has been providing healthcare coverage to the federal employee workforce for nearly 60 years. The program currently covers over 5.5 million federal employees, retirees and their families across the country and overseas. Yoder explained how the program provides worldwide coverage along with a simple and effective healthcare experience.

Starting on Nov. 11 and running through Dec. 9, the open enrollment period for federal employees begins. While federal employees can enroll in this open period, the FEP is also participating in a new program established by the Postal Service Reform Act for United States Postal Service employees and retirees that will begin next year. Yoder discussed the new healthcare marketplace through the Postal Service Health Benefits Program, that will be begin for eligible USPS employees and retirees beginning Jan. 1, 2025. Yoder recommends any federal employee looking for more information should visit FEPBlue.org/enroll
