Kelly Yeaney, President, and Jeff Hasty, Vice President nominee, from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Dayton Public Service Union (AFSCME DPSU) Local 101, joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast to discuss the Local and the unique challenges during contract negotiations with Montgomery County in Ohio.

AFSCME DPSU Local 101 has 24 chapters representing public workers in the City of Dayton and surrounding areas. Yeaney and Hasty discussed the unique challenges caused by the Local's diverse makeup. As Yeaney seeks reelection as President of the Local with Hasty as her Vice President, they discussed how they address those challenges and communicate with members.

Yeaney discussed the challenges of having 24 chapters represented when negotiations are underway. To make the process more effective, she said they utilize negotiating committees that consist of both Yeaney and Hasty, members of the chapter and representatives from AFSCME Ohio Council 8.

Yeaney and Hasty pride themselves on ensuring members are heard and have a say in their future careers. They discussed how members' input has been applied to negotiations with several different departments in Montgomery County. Yeaney and Hasty outlined their plans to improve this process further and members' camaraderie across the Local.
