Communications Workers of America (CWA) District 4 Administrative Director Frank Mathews joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed Microsoft’s labor neutrality agreement to not oppose organizing efforts by Activision Blizzard employees once its acquisition of the company is finalized.

Last January, Microsoft announced plans to acquire Activision Blizzard, one of the world’s largest online gaming companies. Mathews detailed Microsoft’s agreement not to oppose the efforts of Activision Blizzard employees to join the Campaign to Organize Digital Employees (CODE-CWA), which is affiliated with the CWA.

As part of the agreement, Activision Blizzard employees will maintain their right to communicate with other employees about organizing efforts, have access to technology to streamline the organizing process and maintain confidentiality, he explained.

Mathews also talked about CWA efforts its to educate members on critical political issues and candidates ahead of the midterm elections in November. He also explained the Affordable Connectivity Program, which is a federal program that provides affordable internet to families.
