Communications Workers of America (CWA) District 4 Administrative Director Frank Mathews joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and explained why he believes Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard will be great for workers.

On Dec. 8, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission said it would file a complaint seeking to block the $68.7 billion acquisition of the gaming company. The FTC claims the merger suppress competition and harm consumers. However, according to multiple media reports, Microsoft has agreed to multiple concessions in order to make the deal happen.

Mathews said Microsoft pledged to remain neutral in organizing talks for Activision Blizzard workers if the sale goes through. He thinks this would be great for workers and argued the potential organizing power workers can gain as a result of the acquisition offsets any potential harm to consumers.

Mathews also talked about the impact election results in Michigan and Ohio will have on working families.
