Central Iowa Building and Construction Trades Council Executive Director Samantha Groark  joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed how the Inflation Reduction Act provides some of the strongest labor protections and incentives ever attached to clean energy tax credit programs.

The expanded tax credits include bonus credits for businesses that pay Prevailing Wage and hire registered apprentices, Groark said. This will ensure local wages are not undercut by low-road contractors, she said, adding these incentives will benefit union workers in the building trades.

Groark then spoke about employee misclassification in the construction industry and how it impacts workers.
