Editor-in-Chief of The Real News Network and host of the Working People Podcast, Maximillian Alvarez, returned to the America’s Work Force Union Podcast to discuss his labor journey since his previous appearance. Alvarez also discussed the upcoming fundraiser his podcast will host for East Palestine, Ohio, residents impacted by the Norfolk Southern train derailment in early 2023.

It’s been four years since Alvarez was last on America’s Work Force. At the time, he was a graduate student at the University of Michigan, seeking a path forward. He found that path after his last appearance — starting Working People Podcast. Alvarez discussed his journey since starting his podcast and how he has seen the labor movement's growth while covering working-class people worldwide.

The Working People Podcast will hold a fundraising event with residents who experienced the Norfolk Southern derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. Alvarez will feature Chris Albright, an East Palestine Resident, and several special guests who will tell the stories of families following the derailment. The event will be a 12-hour fundraiser on the Working People Podcast’s YouTube channel starting Saturday, Dec. 16, at 10 a.m. All proceeds will go to families in East Palestine to make Christmas celebrations a bit brighter.

In coordination with the fundraiser, the residents of East Palenstine will hold a holiday party at the East Palenstine Eagles Club. The party will bring together residents from the area impacted by the derailment. Alvarez discussed the different areas impacted, the recovery efforts and how to get involved with the fundraiser and in-person party. To donate and help bring a better Christmas to the residents in the region, please visit the donation website by clicking here
