U.S. Sen Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) made his monthly appearance on the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the recent announcement that the Brent Spence Bridge corridor project will receive a record $1.6 billion in federal funding.

The Brent Spence Bridge, located between Cincinnati and Covington, Ky., was deemed functionally obsolete, as it carries nearly double the load it was initially designed to hold, including an estimated 3 percent of the nation’s gross domestic product each year.

Brown pointed out that even though Democrat and Republicans have different viewpoints, politicians from both parties worked together on this issue to ensure the funds were allocated for this project.

The project will create good-paying union jobs for members of the building trades.

He also touched on the recently passed ominbus spending bill and how it will impact Americans.
