Ibidun “Bibi" Roberts, Outside Legal Counsel for the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) National Veterans Affairs (VA) Council, joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the Veterans Affairs Accountability Act and its impact on VA employees.

Roberts is a founding partner of Roberts Labor Law.

Passed under the Trump Administration in 2017, the legislation has allowed VA management to summarily fire rank and file employees, not the management. These mass firings run counter to the current labor friendly policies of the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) under President Biden, which VA management continues to ignore, she said.

Roberts also talked about the U.S. Senate’s recent confirmation of Susan Grundmann as a member of the FLRA and a grievance filed by the AFGE National VA Council against the VA about the need to negotiate bonuses to Title 38 medical providers who treated veterans during the height of the pandemic.
