Gina Walsh, Deputy Director of the Mechanical Insulators Labor Management and Cooperative Trust (LMCT), joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast to discuss the Tradeswomen Build Nations Winter Webinar that takes place this Saturday.

The North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) is hosting the first of two webinars on March 5 at 11 a.m. EST. They are in lieu of last fall’s canceled Tradeswomen Build Nations Conference (TWBN). The conference is the largest gathering of tradeswomen in the world.

This webinar’s theme is “Women Empowerment in Union Construction.” The event will feature opening remarks from NABTU President Sean McGarvey and LeanIn.Org Founder Sheryl Sandberg, followed by three informational panels for attendees to choose from and watch.

According to Walsh, participants will discuss and seek to solve issues that address women in the trades. She explained how she started out as a tradeswoman in the 1970s and the challenges she experienced. While women have become more prevalent in the trades, their presence is still considered “nontraditional employment,” she added.

Interested participants can register for the webinar on NABTU’s website.
