United Labor Agency (ULA) Executive Director David Megenhardt joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed Breaking Down Barriers, a ULA sponsored job fair on July 15 for people who face significant legal barriers to employment.

The job fair will help formerly incarcerated individuals find quality employment to sustain their families and reduce recidivism, Megenhardt said. The ULA also works to enlighten employers about the benefits of hiring these workers, including great retention rates, he added.

Megenhardt also talked about the Aug. 6 Union Appreciation Day at Progressive Field in Cleveland, which will celebrate labor and unions through fellowship and camaraderie. He also discussed the Unsung Heroes Dinner, which will take place in November and celebrate the unsung heroes of the labor movement. The ULA is currently taking nominations for potential awardees, he added.
