U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) appeared on the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and provided a legislative update.

Brown explained how the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) for America Act passed in the Senate. He said the Senate planned to stay in session until they got it passed.

He then described the Inflation Reduction Act, which is a climate and healthcare bill. Currently, Democrats need the support of Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) in order to pass the legislation. Brown said the legislation will reduce the price of prescription drugs and insulation.

Lastly, he discussed the recent passage of the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act. Brown claimed Republicans initially voted against the bill because of its cost. He believes victims of burn pits and agent orange should have their medical care paid for. Veterans should not have to pay for this treatment.
