The United States looks to move forward with the inauguration of Joe Biden on Jan. 20, as the recent U.S. Senate runoff elections in Georgia will allow him to tackle his agenda head on.

United States Senator Sherrod Brown joined America’s Work Force Union Podcast to discuss the recent insurrection and what the new administration will be able to accomplish moving forward.

Insurrection attempt

Sen. Brown denounced President Trump and his followers, who stormed the Capitol Building and gained entry on Jan. 6. He said President Trump is to blame for this insurrection.

With only 10 days remaining until Joe Biden is inaugurated as president, Sen. Brown fears that is too much time for the president to cause more damage. As a result, the Senator called for the 25th amendment to be invoked and the president be removed.

Moving forward

Sen. Brown looks forward to the new administration. He spoke about plenty of legislation that can be passed now that Democrats control the House, Senate and White House.

One of the most important pieces of legislation will be the PRO Act, a piece of legislation which passed in the House but failed to receive a vote in the Senate.

He also looks forward to raising the minimum wage, putting more money in workers pockets. The increase has been stalled for quite some time and needs to happen under this administration.

He also said Congress will immediately work to provide a $2,000 stimulus check to the American people.

Secretary of Labor

Sen. Brown is excited about having Boston Mayor Marty Walsh as the Secretary of Labor.

After seeing what Eugene Scalia did as Secretary of Labor, it will be refreshing to have a union member in the role.
