Gina Walsh, Deputy Director of the Mechanical Insulators Labor Management and Cooperative Trust (LMCT), joined the America’s Work Force Union  Podcast and discussed the Tradeswomen Build Nations conference.

The largest gathering of tradeswomen in the world, TWBN was held in Las Vegas last weekend. Walsh is the Mechanical Insulators Union representative on the  North America's Building Trades Unions’ (NABTU) Tradeswomen’s Committee which hosted the event.

Tradeswomen Build Nations serves to empower women in the trades to address the challenges they experience in the workforce.

This year’s conference set an attendance record, as over 3,300 people registered for the conference, said Walsh. It was the first time in three years the conference was held in-person due to the COVID-19 pandemic and she felt the the conference made an impact the women who attended.

She also spoke about the need keep women in the trades. Two ways to do this is to increase access to daycare and to offer maternity leave. No one should have to choose between caring for their family and working, she added.
