U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the recent decision by the U.S. Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee to not close 20 Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals, including the Chillicothe VA Medical Center in Ohio.

Brown discussed lobbying efforts from community leaders and politicians to keep the hospitals open. He praised American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) Local 1631 President Jessica Fee, who he felt did more than anyone else to keep the Chillicothe facility open.

Brown also talked about his successful efforts to protect the pensions of over 100,000 Ohio workers in the American Rescue Plan and gave an update on the U.S. Innovation and Competition Act, which he hopes Congress will pass in the coming weeks.
