National Nurses United President Jean Ross joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the need to provide Medicare for All and eliminate the for-profit model of the healthcare system.

Ross believes access to quality healthcare is a basic human right and should be funded like police, fire and education. As one of the richest countries on the planet, there is no reason the U.S. should not socialize healthcare, she argued. Ross hopes a grassroots movement led by the people will eventually make quality healthcare accessible to all, but addecd the right members of Congress need to be elected in order to reflect the will of the people.

She also talked about the need to maintain a healthy patient-to-nurse ratio and explained how a California healthcare staffing law helps set the care standard for the nation.
