Charles Skelly, Business Manager for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 666 joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the $2.4 billion Diamond District project in Richmond, Va., and the work it will create for the membership.

Local 666 represents about 1,400 members in central Virginia.

The project includes a new baseball stadium, more than 1,200 housing units, a hotel and retail stores.

Skelly detailed efforts of Local 666, Richmond City Council, the administration and potential developers to negotiate a Project Labor Agreement for the project. Though nothing has been finalized, the project potentially includes a number of positive labor conditions, including Prevailing Wage and expectations of union workforce goals, he added.

Skelly also spoke about the Electrical Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program that will train his membership to install electric vehicle charging stations in conjunction with the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
