Bill Samuel, Government Affairs Director for the AFL-CIO, joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed President Joe Biden’s efforts to bolster funding for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The White House is seeking a 14.5 percent funding increase for OSHA under the Department of Labor’s fiscal year 2023 budget request. Samuel discussed the likelihood of Congress approving such a measure and why it is critical Democrats maintain a majority in the U.S. Senate.

Samuel also shared the AFL-CIO’s position on the recent tragic shootings in New York and Texas, particularly when it comes to ensuring a safe workplace for workers. Other topics included the Bipartisan Innovation Act and President Biden’s efforts to amend tariffs enacted during the Trump Administration.
