Greg Regan, Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO President, appeared on the AWF Union Podcast and talked about a safety controversy involing Amtrak.
Amtrak has proposed a workforce reduction, as the company wants to reduce its two-person crew with a single engineer. According to Regan, this would mean the elimination of the conductor, a move he called unsafe.
Regan then spoke about his optimism surrounding future transportation regulations with the new House and Senate in place.
Finally, he explained the need for international companies to follow the stringent safety guidelines American companies must follow when they work on domestic aircraft.
