Davida Russell, Secretary-Treasurer of the North Coast Area Labor Federation, joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast to discuss the Ohio Alliance for Community Education (Ohio ACE) and the Ohio Alliance Action Fund and how they are helping educate people of color in Ohio about the upcoming election. She also spoke about the upcoming fundraiser for the Ohio Coalition of Labor Union Women (CLUW).

Russell is the founder and Executive Director of Ohio ACE and the Ohio Alliance Action Fund. Ohio ACE is an organization that travels around the state and helps people of color register to vote. The organization educates residents on the facts behind the policy and voting issues that may impact their communities.

As a non-profit 501 c(3) organization, Ohio ACE is non-partisan only provides the facts about the policies on the ballot. However, the Ohio Alliance Action Fund is a non-profit 501 c(4) organization, which allows it to advocate for the social welfare of members. It does this by supporting the political groups that will help Ohioans who live in communities of color. Russell then explained how these two organizations will work in concert beginning Aug. 1.

As the President of the Ohio CLUW, Russell is also preparing for the organization’s barbecue fundraiser, which will take place in August. CLUW is the only women's union in America and its membership includes females from unions across the country. Through CLUW and its support programs, women are empowered to run for leadership, political and decision-making positions. To help fund the organization and support union women in the community, the Ohio CLUW Annual Barbecue will be held on Aug. 17, at the United Steelworker’s Union Hall in Cleveland.
