Steven Rosenfeld, chief correspondent for the Independent Media Institute, joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed an article he wrote that detailed 80 plus election-denying candidates who are running for positions such as governor, attorney general and secretary of state in upcoming primary elections.

Election denial continues to be steadfast since the presidential election, with about 30 percent of the electorate continuing to believe the election was illegitimate, Rosenfeld noted. Nobody has found a working strategy to effectively convince this demographic of Biden’s win, he added.

The roles of governor, attorney general and secretary of state play critical roles in overseeing elections, so the prevalence of election deniers in these roles poses a problem for democracy, Rosenfeld said. Governors certify winners, Attorney generals can sue and secretaries of state oversee the mechanics of elections.

Rosenfeld stressed there is a bright side, as Americans now enjoy easier access to the ballot than any other time in history. While democracy is evolving and progress has been made on many fronts, there remain numerous negative trends that tend to be geographically focused, he said.
