Helmets to Hardhats Executive Director Marty Helms joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and explained how the Helmets to Hardhats program provides veterans with valuable career resources to find gainful civilian employment in the construction industry after the military.

Helms appeared as part of AWF’s celebration of Veterans Day.

The Helmets to Hardhats website acts as a job board specifically designed to help transitioning active-duty service members, veterans and members of the National Guard find work in the construction industry, Helms explained. He compared the site to other job portals and noted service members and veterans receive follow-up help from the program that allows them to take advantage of these opportunities.

Helms explained the discipline military members have developed is exceptionally valuable in the building trades. Service members are often in high demand and quickly land jobs, he added.
