Brian Baskett, Business Manager/Financial Secretary/Treasurer of Ironworkers Local 46, joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the lucrative work opportunities  members have enjoyed thanks to investments in green energy.

Local 46 represents 346 members in Springfield, Ill.

The workload for members of the Local was exceptionally good the past two years, largely due to renewable energy projects, Baskett said. Upcoming projects on the books for 2023 include a 6,000-acre solar project, several wind farms and a new natural gas powerhouse, he added.

Baskett also spoke about the Illinois’ Workers Rights Amendment, which voters approved in November. The amendment guarantees workers a right to collectively bargain.
