John Morrison, Business Manager and Secretary-Treasurer of the Greater Louisville Building and Construction Trades Council, joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed Ford’s $5.8 billion electric battery plant, which is being constructed in Glendale, Ky.

Morrison talked about the work opportunities at the plant and in the greater Louisville construction market. He said there has never been a better time to be a construction worker in Kentucky.

The Glendale battery plant will create 3,000 to 4,000 construction jobs, as well as 2,000 to 4,000 UAW jobs once it is operational, Morrison said. The construction work is being performed under Ford’s National Maintenance Agreement and will be 100 percent union-built. Apprentices can hire in on the project, serve their entire apprenticeship and still be working at the same plant as journeymen, he added.
