American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the “What Kids and Communities Need” campaign – a new effort to invest in public schools and promote politicians who support public education.

Weingarten said the campaign will promote reading, career and technical education, address the teacher shortage, invest in school-based enrichment programs that support student success and encourage candidates and elected leaders to support public education.

She noted the campaign promotes wrap around services, where schools offer mental health services, access to dentistry and career programs for parents.
