Rick Perdue, President of the Lima Building and Construction Trades Council, appeared on the America’s Work Force Union Podcast today and talked about the busy year ahead for affiliated members.

The Lima Building Trades represents 15 building trades unions and roughly 2,500 affiliated members in a seven Western Ohio counties.

While Perdue expects a bit of a lull in the first quarter, he cautioned that the workload will heat up in the remaining three quarters of 2023. He cited work at Proctor and Gamble, hospital work, Cargill and the $916 million SEMCORP Advanced Materials Group seperator film plant in Sidney Ohio. He also noted some of his members will likely travel into neighboring building trades jurisdictions to work on mega projects such as Intel and the Honda/LG Electric Vehicle battery plant.

He also discussed the importance of organizing non-union construction workers and recruiting new apprentices into the building trades.

Listen to the entire episode to learn more about the projects affiliated members of the LBCTC will work on in 2023, plus ways in which Local Unions are recruiting new members.
