U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed why the labor movement needs to take advantage of the growing popularity of unions and increase union density.

For the first time in decades, the nation is experiencing a true celebration of labor, with over 70 percent of Americans approving of unions, the highest in decades, Brown said. He stressed the need to take advantage of this momentum and organize more workers. He also talked about the value unions deliver to workers through higher pay, better benefits and more flexible scheduling.

Brown then celebrated the recent legislative wins of the Biden administration, including the passage of the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductor (CHIPS) for America Act, the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act and the Inflation Reduction Act.

These laws take on the oil companies, the drug companies and Wall Street, which doesn’t happen often in Washington D.C., he added.
