As 2024 winds down, America’s Work Force Union Podcast is looking back on some of the best episodes and guests from the year. Today we look back to the Feb. 9 show where Scott Paul, President of the Alliance for American Manufacturing discussed the Bureau of Labor Statistics report on jobs in the manufacturing industry, public funding for the industry and the national trade deficit.

Paul discussed how the 2023 numbers were impacted by corporate spending cuts and explained why he believes the numbers would look better in 2024. Paul also discussed some factors that will significantly impact the availability of new jobs in the industry.

Paul also discussed the impact public funding could have on the manufacturing industry in 2024. He highlighted legislation like the Infrastructure Act and CHIPS Act, and how these bills are helping to create new factory jobs and economic growth.

Finally, Paul previewed the documentary "Relighting the Flame," which released in 2024. The documentary highlights the revival of the steel industry and features stories of hope and resilience from the families and communities impacted by the losses in the steel industry.

Hear more from the Feb. 9 interview from Paul as part of our “Best of 2024” coverage, by listening to the show above.
