Rich Fiesta, Executive Director of the Alliance for Retired Americans, joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast to discuss election issues that concern retirees. He also talked about educating retirees on candidates' voting records and why retirees should take precautions when voting through mail-in ballots.

During the Sept. 10 Presidential Debate, Fiesta took notes on the conversations that could directly impact retirees. He said both nominees must continue to address high prescription costs for Medicaid recipients. Fiesta also discussed funding federal programs that help retirees, like the Social Security Administration.

With less than two months until the General Election, Fiesta discussed the need to educate retirees about the voting records of the candidates. He discussed how the Alliance has provided several educational resources through its communications with members and on its website.

Finally, Fiesta discussed why many voters should avoid mail-in ballots and some precautions they should take if they vote by mail. He said that due to some of the policy changes and delivery routing for mail, retirees should get their ballots mailed early. Fiesta also recommends voters double or triple-check their information to ensure it matches the requirements to ensure the ballot is deemed valid.
