American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) District 6 Vice President Arnold Scott joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the AFGE’s membership growth this year after losing thousands of members at the height of the pandemic.
District 6 represents public employees in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.
During the height of the pandemic, the Union, on average, lost roughly 35,000 members per month Scott said. The Union managed positive growth in 2022 through a commitment to organize and through healthy competition between Locals, he said.
Scott then touched on a few of the Union’s accomplishments in 2022, among them the
successful campaign to prevent the closure of numerous Veterans Administration hospitals, the passage of the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act and a 4.6 percent raise for federal workers.
