Jeff Stoffer, Director of Media and Communications for the American Legion, joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast to discuss the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. Stoffer also discussed the impact of the G.I. Bill and previewed an article from July’s edition of the Legion Magazine.

Stoffer recently returned from attending the D-Day Anniversary in Normandy. He talked about covering the anniversary every year since 2006. Stoffer discussed some of the anniversary events and what he believes it will be like in the future.

The G.I. Bill was initially passed on June 10, 1944, and Stoffer talked about the history of the bill. There were initial concerns surrounding the costs of the bill, and how the veterans from World War II were able to take advantage of the legislation. Stoffer said the bill has created an economic boost, which he called the most impactful economic legislation in the past 70 years.

Finally, Stoffer talked about the July edition of the Legion Magazine and an article about the evolution of media consumption in America. He addressed the idea that the current method of media consumption has helped to further the division of Americans and how it compares to the years before satellite TV and online streaming services. Despite the vast number of options, Stoffer talked about the potential for a limit to the number of options, eventually returning to a time when only a handful of media sources exist.
