American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) Local 1631 President Jessica Fee joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the potential closing of the Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio and the impact it would have on veterans and the Local’s membership.

Local 1631 represents about 1,200 employees at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center.

Fee speculated how closing the facility would devastate some Ohio veterans, especially those who would have to travel hours to alternative private healthcare facilities. The current 300-acre campus in Chillicothe provides healthcare for veterans who require a wide variety of services including acutely sick and end-of-life nursing home patients.

She also discussed the improvement of morale at the AFGE since President Joe Biden took office.
