USW reaches tentative four-year CBA with U.S. Steel

North Coast Area Labor Federation President Pat Gallagher made his regular appearance on the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed a tentative Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) reached between the United Steelworkers (USW) and U.S. Steel.

Gallagher also serves as Sub-District Director for USW District 1.

If ratified, the four-year contract will affect roughly 13,000 members of 13 Local Unions at U.S. steel facilities and is similar to a CBA recently ratified by USW members at  Cleveland-Cliffs, Inc., Gallagher said.

The tentative CBA includes a significant wage increase and maintains quality healthcare packages with no premiums, he added. The agreement proposes a 21.5 percent compounded base wage increase, or 5 percent a year for four years.

Gallagher also discussed the midterm election and its impact on organized labor.
