Eric Coons, Business Manager and Financial Secretary/Treasurer for United Association (UA) Local Union 572, joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed efforts by Tennessee lawmakers to enshrine So-Called “Right to Work” laws in the state’s constitution.

Local 572 represents about 1,400 members in Tennessee and Kentucky.

This November, voters will consider Amendment One, which would add So-Called “Right to Work” laws into the state constitution, which would make it difficult to rescind, Coons said. He then detailed efforts by union leaders to educate the public on the devastating impact So-Called “Right to Work” laws have on wages and opportunities for working families.

Coons also discussed his ambitions to double or triple Local 572’s membership in the next five to 10 years, and how Ford’s $11 billion battery campuses in Tennessee and Kentucky will impact the Local.
