AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Fred Redmond joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed how he feels honored to be the highest ranking elected African American in the history of the labor movement, alongside Liz Shuler, who is the Federation’s first woman president.
Redmond and Shuler were Both elected at the AFL-CIO Constitutional Convention last month. He said he looks forward to being part of the AFL-CIO leadership team as the labor movement navigates through these exciting, yet challenging times and detailed some of their goals.
Redmond also spoke about recent organizing wins, immigration reform, the upcoming midterm elections and the AFL-CIO’s political strategy for 2024.
