The Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) President Scott Paul joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed President Biden’s recent signing of the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) for America Act and why it is only the beginning of the policy change needed to truly revamp manufacturing in the U.S.
Paul called the passage and signing of the law “a remarkable achievement,” especially considering the nation is politically divided. However, he stressed that more needs to be done to enforce trade laws to ensure manufacturing jobs are not lost overseas due to the unfair labor practices of other countries.
Paul also talked about the need to increase the domestic production of batteries for electric vehicles, and the need to create charging ports across the nation, as stipulated in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
