Paul: Chinese electric vehicles threaten domestic EV market

Written by awfblog | November 30, 2022

The Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) President Scott Paul joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the proliferation of Chinese-made electric vehicles into the American market and the threat this poses to domestic manufacturing.

Traditionally, Chinese vehicles have not been a threat to U.S. domestic car manufacturing, but that is quickly changing. Paul explained the number of Chinese electric vehicles sold in the U.S. doubled in the past 18 months, and racked up $313 million in sales in the last year. He believes this poses a threat to domestic manufacturing and the communities in this country who staked their future on the electric vehicle market.

Paul then talked about pending federal legislation that, if passed, would require online retailers to label the country of origin for their products. He also spoke about the 2022 Made in America Holiday Gift Guide.
