Ohio AFL-CIO President Tim Burga joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed Ohio holding two primary elections this year as a result of the failure of the Ohio Redistricting Commission to draw maps the Ohio Supreme Court deems constitutional.
Ohio’s second primary will take place on Aug. 2 and cost taxpayers $30 million. Burga explained the circumstances that led to the need to have two primary elections and the importance of the upcoming elections for three Ohio Supreme Court seats, which will help determine future redistricting decisions.
Burga then spoke about the problems caused by inflation, as well as the importance of the upcoming midterm elections this November. He also discussed AFL-CIO endorsements and what the federation is doing to support the candidates it backs.
