Columbus/Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council Executive Secretary-Treasurer Dorsey Hager made his monthly appearance on the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed recent media speculation about Ohio being selected for a $4.4 billion Honda and LG Energy battery plant.
Last week, the companies announced plans for the joint-venture plant but did not identify a location. According to a statement from Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, the state is not only interested in bringing this project to the Buckeye State, but they are working to make it happen.
Hager said it would be wonderful if Honda ultimately picked Ohio and noted Honda has entered into Project Labor Agreements with the building trades to construct and update their Ohio Auto plants.
He also talked about the many other large projects happening within his jurisdiction. Hager and his staff are working to ramp up outreach and recruitment efforts to provide the qualified and diverse workforce needed to build the Intel plants and other datacenters.
