Insulators Local 24 Business Manager Brian Cavey joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed recently passed legislation in Maryland that created the Maryland Mechanical Insulation Grant Program.
Local 24 represents 618 Insulators in Maryland.
The program provides grants to building owners and it covers the cost of materials and labor costs for preparation, assembly and installation. Cavey explained the program could be used as a model for other states to fund similar programs.
Mechanical Insulators Labor Management Cooperative Trust (LMCT) Executive Director Pete Ielmini appeared earlier on the podcast and introduced Cavey. He also spoke about the increased need for energy efficiency.
