Tom Buffenbarger, an independent labor voice, appeared on the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the recent announcement by President Joe Biden that he will seek a second term and also recounted Biden’s success during his two years in office.
Buffenbarger thinks Biden's first term has been excellent and called the President’s policies successful. He believes Biden created a significant amount of jobs through the Infrastructure, Investment and Jobs Act. Buffenbarger feels Biden has done enough to earn a second term.
The administration’s current plan is to put citizens first. Despite major inflation, he thinks Biden has kept inflation at bay through the CHIPS Act and the construction of electric vehicle plants in the U.S. Buffenbarger noted that presidents cannot control inflation, however, Biden’s policies have done an exceptional job dealing with it.
Buffenbarger also gave his thoughts on the rail industry and what it would take for major changes to occur. He supports the effort by multiple unions to prevent stock buybacks until the rail carriers make a significant investment in safety. He said the Precision Scheduled Railroad business model is to blame for the recent string of derailments and other safety issues plaguing the industry. Real change will not take place until the industry is forced to put safety ahead of financial gain, he added.
