Senior Director of Research, Advocacy and Outreach Department for the Center for American Progress, Will Ragland, joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast to discuss the Biden Administration Investment Tracker. Ragland also discussed the tracker’s ability to track union jobs and other capabilities.
The Biden Administration Investment Tracker is a project from the Center for American Progress that tracks the projects being funded by the United States Chip and Science Act, the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The Tracker also monitors private investments generated or supported by the three Biden initiatives. There are over 35,000 investments that can be searched and tracked by users through various search criteria. Residents can use this tracker to check on investments in their state and region's economies, and see how these laws are implemented.
The Tracker will be continuously updated and improved over time. One of CAP’s goals for the Tracker is to be capable of displaying union and non-union jobs. They also hope to feature specifics like education requirements, the number of workers from approved apprenticeship programs and salaries. These updates will be based on the amount of information they can source and improving their relationships with labor groups, Ragland said.
As updates to the Tracker are made, and more information is added to the database, the Tracker will be able to monitor the investments in greater detail. In time, the Tracker will help hold companies accountable for their investment usages, Ragland said. To view the Tracker, please visit www.americanprogress.org. There, you will find a link to the Biden Administration Investment Tracker.
