Jacob Morrison, Secretary-Treasurer of North Alabama Area Labor Council and co-host of a weekly talk radio show, The Valley Labor Report, joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed how alleged child labor law violations at a metal stamping plant operated by, a subsidiary of Hyundai, have largely been ignored by the Alabama Attorney General’s Office.
Morrison is also a member of the American Federation of Government Employees Local 1858.
According to a Reuters report, underage workers, in some cases as young as 12, worked at the plant, which has a history of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) violations for amputation and crush hazards. Morrison believes the Alabama Attorney General's Office has done little to investigate the alleged allegations since the report was published in July.
He then spoke about why he thinks the Biden Administration and the Democratic Party have been largely inactive during the Warrior Met coal strike and why political action is needed to advance the cause of the coal miners.
