Jason Smith, President of the Indiana State Building and Construction Trades Council (ISBCTC), joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the impact of a construction boom coming to Indiana.

The ISBCTC represents about 75,000 affiliated members from unions across Indiana.

Smith is also Business Manager for the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators Local 18 in Indianapolis.

Smith estimated affiliated members of the ISBCTC have about 15 years worth of work to complete in the next five years. This creates an unprecedented opportunity for the trades to grow their membership and increase market share, as well as opportunites for to grow their apprenticeship programs.

He also talked about the recent leadership change at the ISBCTC, where many younger building trades members were elected to office.
