Leopold highlighted the alarming trend of masked agents conducting raids, describing it as a frontal attack on due process and core American values. He claimed these tactics, which he considers reminiscent of authoritarian regimes, are instilling fear not only in immigrant communities but also among American citizens. This climate of fear has led to unprecedented concerns, with Leopold receiving calls from U.S. citizens afraid to travel or speak out against injustices. The attorney emphasized how immigration policies negatively impact the economy and workers' rights. He explained that the chaos created by mass arrests and deportations is damaging businesses, particularly in sectors such as construction. Moreover, Leopold alleges that unscrupulous employers are exploiting the situation, using the threat of ICE raids to suppress wages and perpetrate workplace abuses, ultimately harming American workers by driving down labor standards. Leopold stressed the need for comprehensive immigration reform, arguing that a well-designed legalization program for long-term residents would benefit the entire workforce. He criticized the current approach of allocating vast resources to arrest low-wage workers instead of implementing smart policies that could increase wages and improve working conditions for all. Leopold called on Americans to use their voices and collective power to demand sensible immigration policies that align with the nation's values and economic interests.
