The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1220 Business Manager John Rizzo joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the IBEW’s efforts to organize workers at Intelligentsia Coffee.

IBEW Local 1220 represents about 700 members - most professional and industrial workers - across a dozen states.

Workers at Intelligentsia Coffee have filed for an election with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to be represented by Local 1220 due to concerns about wages, staffing, training, scheduling, safety and health protection. The Union also represents workers at  Colectivo Coffee.

Rizzo also talked about a three-week strike between Local 1220 and Chicago’s Public Broadcasting Service, WTTW.
