Tom Buffenbarger, an independent labor voice, joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed a scheduled strike by nearly 2,500 members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District 837, which is set to take place on Aug. 1.
Buffenbarger is the former President of the IAM.
Members of District 837 voted to go on strike at three Boeing Co. locations in the St. Louis area following a rejection of Boeing's latest contract offer.
Boeing makes fighter jets and defense equipment for the U.S. military. Buffenbarger said it is a shame the company cannot find a way to honor the great work its workers do and allow employees to share in the wealth the company creates.
