Dorsey Hager, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Columbus/Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council, appeared on the AWF Union Podcast and gave an update on the $20 billion Phase I of the Intel project in New Albany, Ohio.
He said next week will be the first pre-meeting with the general contractor and soon after that, more workers will be needed onsite, as structural steel will start coming out of the ground. Hager explained that thousands of building trades members will be needed to construct the first phase of this project.
Discussion then turned to community involvement. He noted that a number of affiliated members gave back to the community during the holiday season.
Hager also touched on the need to organize, plus the recent funding announcement regarding the Brent Spence Bridge.
