New York City Central Labor Council (NYCCLC) President Vincent Alvarez joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the need to create good union jobs and address income inequality as the nation transitions to a green energy economy.
The New York City Central Labor Council comprises roughly 275 unions, representing 1.3 million members, or roughly one in four workers in New York City.
Alvarez discussed a collaborative report between the NYCCLC and Cornell University that provides a blueprint to maintain strong labor standards and expand work opportunities in the clean energy sector.
He also talked about union organizing in New York City and the need for a multifaceted approach to grow union membership.
