UA Local Union 72 Business Manager Terry Newsome Jr. joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the excellent work opportunities in Georgia for union members in the midst of the state’s construction boom.

Local 72 is based in Atlanta and represents about 3,500 members.

Newsome talked about a $6.5 billion Hyundai electric vehicle plant, which will be built in Savannah, Ga. and the potential for it to be constructed by union members.

He also spoke about the challenges of organizing in Georgia, a So-Called “Right to Work” state, changing anti-union mindsets, even amongst workers, and efforts to grow his union to meet current construction demand.
